Four Books to Read This Winter
One of my personal resolutions for 2017 is to read more. I have a VERY long list of books I would like to read, but let’s be honest, who has the time to curl up with a good book?! In a world with endless demands, I have decided to take matters into my own hands!
I started looking into audiobooks or books on tape and found a few that happen to be on my ‘to read’ list… but I didn’t realize just how expensive audio books happen to be!
Let the research begin!
After hours of scouring the internet and trying to figure out the missing piece to my puzzle, I stumbled across a company called Audible. It’s owned by Amazon, which I already have a loving relationship with. Their main focus is audio books – but instead of having to jostle around with CD’s in the car – it’s all app based! Perfection.
Once I made the commitment to read more books – specifically two books a month for 2017 – I sat down to brainstorm a list. There are dozens of books that I have purchased, read a handful of chapters and then ‘got too busy’. These are going to be books that I tackle first!
With all of that being said, here are some of my book recommendations for you to cuddle up with OR download and listen to in the car!
Do you struggle with saying yes to all the commitments that stroll across your plate? I know I sometimes do! I overcommit to all everything that comes across my plate and peaks my interest, although they may not be the right things for me to commit to at that time. Lysa helps people unpack this ‘disease to please’ mentality and overcome the agony of hard choices by embracing a wisdom-based decision-making process. Genius, pure genius!
Ok, so this is one I haven’t personally read but it’s definitely on my list! I’m not a huge follower of ‘celebrities’ but who doesn’t LOVE Chip and Joanna?! These two are incredibly inspiring people who are making things happen while raising a beautiful family. They are the epitome of “Faith, Love, Communication” – at least in my book!
Have to put my girl Gabby’s book up here! This is another one I haven’t read yet but I’ve read all of her other amazing reads: “May Cause Miracles”, “Spirit Junkie”, “Miracles Now” and a few others. This is her newest book and it’s actually the next thing I’ll be downloading via Audible. Gabrielle says, “My commitment with this book is to wake up as many people as possible to their connection to faith and joy. In that connection, we can be guided to our true purpose: to be love and spread love. These words can no longer be cute buzz phrases that we merely post on social media. Rather, these words must be our mission. The happiness, safety, and security we long for lies in our commitment to love.” Love that!
Another book that’s been on my list that was purchased and is now collecting dust on my nightstand next to the bed. Love Warrior is an inspiring account of how we are born to be warriors: strong, powerful, and brave; able to confront the pain and claim the love that exists for us all. I have love affair with the word warrior – maybe it’s because I’m a yoga teacher. This is Glennon Doyle Melton’s personal memoir that speaks to anyone who yearns for deeper, truer relationships and a more abundant, authentic life – who doesn’t?
I invite you to make part of your 2017 resolution to read more and check out Audible. Also, let us know in the comments below what are some must read’s!
